Welcome to the Internet home of Science Curriculum Inc.

SCI is an educational publishing company dedicated to creating high quality middle school science and high school science programs. Our physical science textbooks – Introductory Physical Science (IPS) and Force, Motion, and Energy (FM&E) – are recognized leaders in experimentally-based, hands-on physical science instruction. In these inquiry-based programs, students learn science by doing science – experimenting, compiling data, discussing results, and drawing conclusions based on their experimental data.

Science textbooks come and go – but over 15 million middle school and high school students have used Introductory Physical Science and have performed its investigations, including the famous sludge test. Now in its Eighth Edition, IPS holds to the proven principles upon which it was developed, while integrating recent advances in instructional technology and adapting to the needs of today's students.

Our Force, Motion, and Energy program, developed with the same "learning by doing" philosophy in mind, can be used in conjunction with IPS or as a semester-long, stand-alone course. It expands the range of physical science topics covered in IPS.

Science Curriculum Inc also provides a full range of teacher-support materials and services to supplement IPS and FM&E. For each of our text books, we offer an accompanying Teacher’s Guide and Resource Book as well as an Assessment Package. Each year, we present national and regional IPS, FM&E, and “Assessment Writing” teacher workshops – taught by the books' authors and teachers who use our physical science curriculum in their classrooms. In addition, we offer software for graphing ( KaleidaGraph ) and for the analysis of student test results ( Diagnostic Analysis ). By email, we publish our Reflections newsletter and eTIPs for Teachers and, to enhance your classroom program, we supply the classic film The Mass of Atoms, as well as the classic IPS Laboratory Film "Loops."

Please feel free to browse and learn more about our unique, inquiry science programs and resources for 8th and 9th grade students and teachers.
